Drilling of the slab in order for the stanchions to bolt onto using threaded bar and a chemical resin.

Due to the slab containing steel reinforcing, a diamond drill was required to go through the reinforcing. The holes were 18mm diammeter by 300mm deep.

Installing of the stanchions and fitting of the cross bracings.

The sillos have a diammeter of 6m and consist of 14 rings.

Lifitng the first four silos onto the stanchions.

Fitting the first sheet of the hopper.

The catwalk, not completed yet as all the handrail has not been connected up.

The final eleven all stood in place with an approximate height of 24m.

Shows the ladder which comes down from the main catwalk to a viewing platform, which enables to access a hatch in the roof cone.

Tower crane which was needed to lift the viewing platforms into place.

Each connection of the ring sheets has a bead of mastic on the vertical and horizontal connection, once all the bolts are tightened any excess mastic must be cleaned off in order to prevent contaminating the grain.
